The Old Gaffers Association turned 15!

Our great OGA club turned 15 this year and we celebrated that with a fine three day gathering, first in Yerseke, including the mandatory delicious seafood at an oyster farm, and anchoring in group the next day, with a swim in the Oosterschelde. Then a fine long sail to Willemstad with 26 boats, also from Friesland and from the UK... resulting is more good partying. All in that abnormally hot summer weather this year.

And just a bit later Dirk’s Oosterschelde Toertocht took us with some 15 boats from Wemeldinge to charming Steenbergen. A bit a nervous trip, a long hour up a shallow and narrow and barely buoyed river. Accompanied by the evening sounds of a peaceful nature and a panicky depth sounder. In Steenbergen we had a buffet dinner on the pontoon an then a Troubadour singing contest. Total fun!

In the coming weeks we sail the Charity Cup race on the Oosterschelde and end of September we come to Antwerp for the Water-rAnt weekend. Chances are that I keep Lona afloat until winter, somewhere end of November. She is just fine, except for some deck seams that opened up again by the blistering sun this year.
