Clark designed Lona III for himself and had her built in Burnham-on -Crouch at the William King and Sons shipyard.

 

Lona was launched in 1907. Of the many boats he owned she was his favorite

 

Lona’s hull is 35’6” or 10.82m long on deck and 39’ or 12.75m with her new bowsprit. Her waterline is 25’6” or 7.77m, her beam 7’7” or 2.37m. She draws 5’3” or 1.60m and displaces 5.500 tons. The lead ballast weighs 2.8 tons. She has an oak structure and ribs. Planking is Pitch Pine below the waterline and Teak above, with Iroko deck and bulwarks.
