Lona is equipped for safe short-handed sailing, with a Yanmar engine, headsail furlers, sheet and backstay winches and electronic instruments. However, these have been integrated carefully and do not alter her vintage looks.

The compass comes from the SS Oakford, built in 1900, and stranded in 1934.
