Burnham-on-Crouch quickly became the heart of yachting in the UK, with several very active yacht clubs, hundreds of boats and lots of racing.

Lona is mentioned in Francis B. Cooke's bible 'Cruising Hints' as one of the best all-round little cruisers he has ever sailed, fast and weatherly, a good sea boat and very comfortable. And with a pleasing appearance.
