August and September 2016 trips
We first had a fine week long shake down trip from Antwerp to Terneuzen and then through the canal to the Oosterschelde. This trip included two absolutely calm days with anchoring and swimming. Lona proves to sail nice and high on the wind.
Next, a late evening sail from Antwerp to Hansweert (with the lock failing – our second time!) and arrival in Wemeldinge after midnight with 32 Kn of wind right on the nose and short steep waves. Lona ships a lot of water and our deck is really not water tight yet! Then some nice controlled Saturday and Sunday sailing without issues. Tuning the instruments. Coming back to Antwerp and effortlessly keeping up with several modern yachts for hours.
By now we have 277 miles on the counter and the boat starts feeling really familiar. The remaining challenge has to do with keeping her under control when motoring backwards. And we now know that this winter we will need to replace the deck seams.
